No. 1 Descriptive Essay
"Problems are not to be swallowed up, but to be exposed in order to find great solutions, not just by you, but also with the people next to your way."
As I take step forward in my journey, I always face trials which could pull me down sometimes but in the end, the stronger me reigns. Well, life is like that, and every time we experience this moment, there are different people we meet who can help us as we continue to travel to the right path of our voyage.
In my life, I have this friend who has lots of problems but as he faces the crowd, it seems that nothing goes wrong in his way to success. I have met him when I entered the portal of the college where we are studying right now. Since then, we became friends and we always spend the day by being together. What I used to do when I’m with him is that I make him laugh and share some of my experiences in life. There are also times wherein we are having a heart-to-heart talk, then it is always my role to let him express what he feels inside and we tackle it on how he should deal the predicaments that he have. Furthermore, I’m trying to make him be expressive and remind him always what life is. I tell him or show it in my actions, that in life there should be spices and those spices are not to be covered up always, sometimes, we should reveal it because it is not all the time that only us who can find solutions. There are many times that we need help from people around us.
As a generalization, when we meet this type of person, it’s our very essential role to jog their memory that everything happens to him or her has a corresponding purpose and that purpose will just be revealed when he or she has found the keys.
No. 2 Compare and Contrast:
In Edwin Arlington Robinson’s poems, “Richard Cory” and “Miniver Cheevy” the main characters are portrayed as outcasts. Both are avoided from society neither having any real friends. Though these characters have some similarities, the way in which Robinson portrays them is very different. Richard Cory is admired by his peers, whereas, Miniver Cheevy is opposite; people look down on him. One man appearing to have everything takes his own life, while the other appearing to have nothing accepts his misery.
For Richard Cory, the saying “money can’t buy happiness”, could not be more appropriate. He is, according to the people of the town, the man with everything. Everyone wished they could be more like him. In contrast Miniver Cheevy, had nothing to be admired for, he had done nothing with his life and yet he longed to have the adoration that Richard Cory had, the respect and almost kingly qualities. Miniver Cheevy wanted to be the hero that Cory was to the people on the street.
To sum it up, both poems are trying to imply on how we should deal to our problems in life. We must not allow the struggles, predicaments and things that could put us down to swallow up our whole being. We should be strong in facing those challenges and never give up because these things are leading us to the right path so that in the future, we can be AMAZING!
